A fantastic new weapon in the war against wrinkles has arrived and its name is Sculptra™. It’s new, innovative, and is tailor made for women who want to banish deep lines and wrinkles and restore the facial volume which has been claimed by age.

Sculptra™ is composed of a synthetic injectable material known as Poly-L-lactic acid – a substance formed naturally in the body when you exercise. The synthetic material found in Sculptra™ is found in dissolvable stitches and various implants and has been used worldwide for over 25 years.

How Sculptra™ Works?

Sculptra™ works through a series of injections which immediately fill the depressed areas of the face caused by aging skin such as; hollowed cheeks and sunken eyes. While some results of Sculptra™ are visible straight away, the true effect of this treatment becomes evident after a few weeks and subsequent treatments. A progressive increase in volume will become apparent as the dermal thickness expands and gives the client a fuller, more youthful and fresh-faced look.

Sculptra™ Treatments

Sculptra™ treatments usually involve between three and six sessions, with 80% of the treated area showing a vast improvement. Once carried out, the results on average usually last for a period of two years, but in some cases, touch-up treatments may be required to maintain the desired effect.

A consultation to determine the specific number of treatments and the amount of Sculptra™ injected is conducted before any procedure begins. Sculptra™ treatment requires any make-up to be removed beforehand and the area to be treated with an antiseptic by a practitioner. Using a very fine needle, Sculptra™ is injected in small amounts. The areas are then massaged fully to ensure the product is evenly distributed.

Post treatment side effects can include pain, redness, bruising or swelling. These only last a few hours and can be treated with an ice pack. In some cases the side effects can last up to two weeks, and it's important all clients massage the treated area regularly each day and avoid excessive sun or UV exposure.

Sculptra FAQs

How will I feel during Sculptra treatment?

A fine needle syringe is used to apply the treatment, and because we apply a numbing cream or local anaesthetic, the procedure is relatively painless.

Is Sculptra the right treatment for me?

Sculptra is a volumising treatment that improves the appearance of the skin from within by prompting a natural rejuvenating response in the body. If you crave a subtle and progressive improvement in the look of your skin, then Sculptra is ideal.

What happens afterwards Sculptra?

Treatment with Sculptra takes between 30 and 45 minutes, after which you will notice an immediate improvement. This improvement will disappear within 24 hours but over the coming weeks there will be a gradual improvement as the body lays down new collagen and fills out your skin. It is important to massage the treated area for a few days after the treatment, and your doctor will advise you about this. There may also be some temporary redness, swelling or slight itching at the site.
