Frequently asked questions

Is Sculptra safe?

Close Icon

At sk:n every client seeking injectable treatments with Sculptra is given an in-depth consultation that examines motivation and expectations. We have the highest level of regulation in the industry, exceeding all recommended guidelines and requirements. Our clinics are safe, medical environments and your treatment will be carried out only by a highly qualified doctor or nurse.

How much does Sculptra usually cost?

Close Icon

Dermal fillers are usually priced by the syringe, with a single 1ml treatment starting from £250 (depending on the area that is to be treated). Exact costs are confirmed after a free consultation with a doctor or nurse.

Does Sculptra hurt?

Close Icon

Unlike procedures such as surgical face lifts or implants, dermal fillers require no cuts, incisions or stitches to be made, although the procedure may involve some light pain or discomfort. Depending on the area being treated, the treatment usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, and clients describe it as a tiny scratch as the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied. For those feeling anxious, we can use a local anaesthetic to numb the area completely.

Who can administer Sculptra?

Close Icon

It is important that you visit a private clinic such as sk:n where your Sculptra can be administered professionally and safely by a qualified doctor or nurse in a safe clinical environment.

How long does Sculptra last?

Close Icon

Each treatment is delivered by a doctor or nurse prescriber to achieve the optimum, natural looking results. Results begin to show immediately after treatment and can last for up to two years.

What happens when Sculptra wears off?

Close Icon

Over time the semi-permanent Sculptra dermal fillers will be naturally metabolised by the body, and treatment will need to be repeated in order to achieve the same desired results.

What happens after Sculptra treatment?

Close Icon

At sk:n dermal fillers are only ever administered by a doctor or nurse prescriber, who will conduct a post-treatment review to ensure you are happy with the results. They will also check-in with you post-treatment and answer any questions that you may have.

Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising, with the swelling usually fading within 48 hours and the bruising fading within a fortnight.

Do you offer permanent Sculptra dermal fillers?

Close Icon

We do not offer permanent fillers, due to the unknown long-term risks involved.

What if I don’t like the results?

Close Icon

During your consultation a great amount of time will be spent discussing your expectations and only trained medical practitioners administer Sculptra at sk:n, so there shouldn’t be any surprise or shock results following treatment. However, if you are not happy with the results, your doctor or nurse can administer a solution that dissolves the filler almost instantly, leaving no lasting damage or effect.

What is a ‘vial’ and how many do I need for my treatment?

Close Icon

A vial is a measurement of the anti-wrinkle liquid which is administered during treatment. Typically, treatment for nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines) requires 1-2 vials, marionette lines require 1 vial, lips require 1 – 2 vials and cheeks require 2 vials.

What is in Sculptra?

Close Icon

We use the highest grade filler solutions, which will be administered at varying levels of thickness depending on the area being treated, in order to achieve the best possible results. Our product Sculptra contains Poly-L-Lactic Acid, which replaces lost collagen to help maintain the skin’s elasticity. This material is also found in dissolvable stitches and has been used worldwide for over 25 years.

Will I look dramatically different?

Close Icon

No, you will not look dramatically different after treatment. Our practitioners work like artists, using the natural contours of your face for guidance, and your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. During your free consultation your doctor or nurse will discuss the best plan for you to achieve the results you desire.
