Understand more about these popular treatments, and get to know which one is right for you.

If you’ve recently been considering facial enhancements to address areas of your appearance that you’d like to improve, you may have come across two popular treatments: Profhilo® and dermal fillers. Whilst both of these injectable treatments can greatly help to improve the appearance of the face, it is important to point out that depending on your desired results, one will be more suited to you than the other. As a brief overview before we go into more detail below, Profhilo® helps to deeply hydrate the skin and give an overall more plump, rejuvenated appearance, whereas dermal fillers are generally administered in particular areas (e.g. cheeks, jawline, chin, nose) to redefine and sculpt the facial structure. To help you better understand what might be right for you, we’ve broken out the main differences and uses for these two treatments; how they work, how long they last, the results they produce, and how much they cost.

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is a revolutionary new treatment designed to provide hydration to the skin. It uses a unique concentration of Hyaluronic Acid, which penetrates deeply through the skin to accelerate the production of collagen and elastin, creating plumper skin. Profhilo® works across the entire face rather than focusing on one area, and is therefore fantastic for those looking to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and achieve an overall more youthful appearance.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers use a Hyaluronic Acid based substance to plump specific areas of the face, including the cheeks, jawline, lips and chin. This semi-permanent treatment helps to restore areas that have lost volume as age (e.g. under eye bags), address areas of imbalance such as weak chins, and reshape places such as the jawline and nose.

Is Botox® the same as fillers and Profhilo®?

A common misunderstanding is that Botox® does the same thing as fillers and Profhilo®, however it is in fact a very different treatment. Whilst fillers and Profhilo® help to plump the skin and fill certain areas to restore volume loss, Botox® works by temporarily blocking the signals between the muscles and the neurotransmitters that send signals to our brain, so that the formation of lines and wrinkles are prevented. For this reason, Botox® is more commonly chosen by people who wish to prevent or slow down the ageing process. Botox® is most often administered to the forehead, to the side of the eyes (crow’s feet), and in the frown line. Botox® is also a fantastic treatment for helping anyone suffering with excessive sweat. This is known as Hyperhidrosis. Botox® can help in this circumstance by being administered to the armpits, feet and hands to prevent excessive sweating.

Is Profhilo® better than fillers?

Profhilo® is not better than fillers, and vice versa. Each of these treatment options provide different approaches, so there will be one treatment that works best for your skin and your desired outcomes. As outlined above, both treatments have different benefits and target different areas, therefore it is really dependent on your individual desires as to which treatment would be best for you. Generally, if you would like to achieve a more holisitc result that can be seen across your face, Profhilo® is the best treatment for you. However, if you would rather make small changes to certain areas of your face such as your cheeks, dermal fillers are more suitable for you.

How long does Profhilo® last?

The results from Profhilo® treatments will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.

How long does dermal filler last?

Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 – 18 months depending on the person.

Hopefully this has helped you decide which of these great treatments will get you the results you’re looking for!
