Frequently asked questions:

What’s the treatment for hyperhidrosis?

Currently one of the most effective, proven treatments is an injection of a protein preparation into your forehead or underarms.  In small doses it blocks the nerves that supply the eccrine glands, preventing them from producing sweat. The treatment takes only 30-45 minutes.

What’s in the injection?

It contains Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox™. It’s a neurotoxin drug, derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.

Is it safe?

Absolutely. Injecting Botox™ into the sweat glands on your forehead and underarms to treat hyperhidrosis is FDA and MHRA (US Food and Drug Administration, UK Medicines and Products Healthcare Regulatory Agency) approved.

How does it work?

Overactive sweat glands are first identified by your doctor. He or she will then administer an injection of Botox™ to this area. The protein acts by blocking excess nerve signals to the sweat glands, preventing them from producing sweat.

Where on my body can I have treatment?

We offer the treatment on your underarms, feet and hands. A select number of our doctors are also qualified to treat the forehead.

What results will I see?

A reduction in sweating in the area treated.

How long will it last?

Each client is unique, but typically the treatment lasts up to six to eight months.
