Frequently asked questions:
What’s in them?
According to the area to be treated, we use the highest grade filler solutions, administered at varying levels of thickness, to achieve the best possible results. Our product Juvéderm® is made from biocompatible, biodegradable materials and contains Hyaluronic Acid, which replaces the naturally existing substance in your skin that repairs damaged tissue.
Are they safe?
Absolutely, when administered correctly by a medical practitioner. At sk:n we have the highest level of regulation in the industry, exceeding all recommended guidelines and requirements. As founding members of ‘Treatments You Can Trust’- the Government-backed quality register - safety is our number one priority. Like most aesthetic treatments, side effects can rarely occur. Mild bruising is sometimes reported and allergic reactions and infections are possible. We’re happy to report that less than 0.02 per cent of clients suffer any side effects. Our clinics are safe, medical environments and your treatment will be carried out only by a highly qualified doctor or nurse.
Do they hurt?
Unlike traditional procedures, such as surgical face lifts or implants, this treatment requires no cuts, incisions or stitches. It may involve some light pain or discomfort. Clients describe it as a tiny scratch as the needle goes in, with a slight stinging sensation as the filler is applied. For those feeling anxious, we can use a local anaesthetic to numb the area completely. Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising. The swelling fades within 48 hour; the bruising can take up to a fortnight.
Will I look dramatically different?
No. We pride ourselves on achieving a no-trace face. Our aim is to enhance rather than drastically alter your appearance, so there is no danger of a trout pout or pillow face. Working under the strictest regulation in the UK, exceeding all mandatory and voluntary requirements, sk:n doctors and nurses are expertly qualified to reach remarkable yet natural looking results. Our practitioners work like artists, using the natural contours of your face for guidance.
What happens at my free consultation?
Our in-depth consultations are the best in the industry. It’s important to us that you achieve the results you want, and we believe this starts with a great consultation. You will never be rushed and our highly trained practitioners will take the time to discuss aspects of your skin you may be unhappy with, your desired results, costs and timings. Our aim is for you to leave your consultation feeling confident, fully informed and looking forward to your treatment.
Where can I have Dermal Fillers?
Popular areas to add volume and fullness to include the lips, cheeks and bridge of the nose. For smoothing and plumping lines and wrinkles, popular treatment areas include around the forehead, eyes, mouth, chin, neck, décolletage and hands.
What results will I see?
You’ll notice restored volume and smoothness to your skin, with natural looking, subtle results. Unlike other treatments, Dermal Fillers give you an immediate result. For this reason, many of our clients time this treatment before a special event or occasion. The immediate effect of Dermal Fillers also provides patients with the ability to review results during treatment and decide there and then whether more is required. Your doctor or nurse will discuss your specific concerns and the results you can expect to see in your free consultation.
How long will it last?
Results begin to show immediately after treatment and can last up to 12 months, depending on the product used.
What if I don’t like the results?
We only use the highest trained medical practitioners to administer Dermal Fillers. A great amount of time is spent during your consultation to discuss your expectations, so there shouldn’t be any surprise or shock results. However, if you are not happy your doctor or nurse can administer a solution that dissolves the filler almost instantly, leaving no lasting damage or effect.
Do you offer permanent fillers?
We do not offer permanent fillers, due to the unknown long-term risks involved. We only use the most trusted semi-permanent fillers on the market.
