Botox® at sk:n

from £150

Botox® is a medically approved and regulated, safe treatment for chronic migraines, facial lines, excessive sweating and muscular disorders. Botulinum toxin type A should only be prescribed by qualified doctors, dentists and nurse prescribers, which is the protocol at sk:n.

We are the only large aesthetic group in the UK regulated by the Care Quality Commission. We always recommend choosing a highly qualified medical practitioner for injectables, which is what you’ll find in every sk:n clinic across the country.

What is Botox®?

Botox® (Botulinum toxin type A) is a neuromodulator developed to target specific conditions and areas. Botox® works by interrupting the signals to the muscles, to block the development of certain conditions. At sk:n, we exclusively use the original Botox® produced by Allergan, so you can trust it’s a high quality, effective and reliable product. As a prescription-only medicine, Botox® should only be administered by a doctor or nurse prescriber, following a consultation to assess suitability.

You can find the full FAQ section below

How does Botox® work?

Botox® injections work by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contractions. This relaxation of the muscles can help alleviate various conditions, such as chronic migraines, facial lines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and certain muscular disorders.

The effects of Botox® are temporary, typically lasting around three to four months. Over time, the treated muscles regain their normal function as the effects gradually wear off.

Is Botox® safe?

Botox® injections are generally considered safe, when prescribed and injected only by a doctor or nurse prescriber, as at sk:n. Botox® has been used for several decades for various medical and cosmetic applications, is medically approved and has a well-established safety profile.

However, it’s important to note that like any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects associated with Botox® injections. Common side effects may include temporary redness, bruising, swelling, or soreness at the injection site. Rarely, more severe side effects such as muscle weakness or drooping may occur, though they are usually temporary.

Valentina Luzi 10 months ago

My experience was great. Doctor Noreen Hashmi is fantastic. Very professional and attentive to all requests. She really loves her job and she does it perfectly. I'm very happy with the tear trough the Botox and the lips. Everything is very natural and she really understands the person she is treating.

Frequently asked questions about Botox®

As Botox® is a prescription-only drug, your consultation should only be with a medical prescriber, such as a doctor, dentist or nurse prescriber – which is what happens at sk:n. Botox® is not suitable for everyone or all concerns, so during your consultation, your medical injector will:

  • Discuss your condition or desired results and determine the best treatment options to help you achieve them.
  • Your medical history will be thoroughly reviewed to ensure an appropriate, safe and bespoke treatment plan
  • Clearly explain the procedure, including information about recovery, expected outcomes, and associated costs.
  • Address any questions or concerns you may have, ensuring that you feel fully informed and confident about your treatment.

If you are deemed a suitable candidate during the consultation, you could proceed with Botox® treatment immediately afterwards.

Botox® was developed to treat a number of muscle disorders, but is also used for cosmetic purposes. In cosmetic applications, Botox® injections are commonly used to temporarily improve the appearance of facial lines, such as the vertical lines between the eyebrows (glabella lines).

Botox® is also used  to treat chronic migraines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), muscle spasms, and other movement disorders, by interrupting the muscle signals.

Depending on the area treated, you may see results within a few days but the full results won’t have developed until 2 weeks after your treatment. You can book a review with your doctor or nurse prescriber to assess the efficacy of your treatment, and any adjustments if needed.
