Many people suffer from a red nose and this can have a negative impact on their lives as it can lead to embarrassment and even depression or anxiety over their physical appearance. It may have an impact with social engagements or even at the work place, and sufferers may find themselves heavily relying on make up to disguise the red nose.

There are a number of skin conditions that can lead to redness on face, including rosacea, a common though little diagnosed condition and one that can cause considerable inconvenience or even distress to the sufferer. Rhinophyma is another and directly affects the nose, the reasons for which can be varied and are sometimes unclear.

Rosacea can result in a red nose or cheeks, red blotches on face, dryness, or sometimes facial outbreaks that can look similar to acne. Rhinophyma also caused redness and sometimes swelling of the skin tissue on the nose.

Neither are treatable as such however if you are suffering from a red nose it is advisable that you seek diagnoses and treatment to help your condition, as it need not get in the way of enjoying life at its optimum. Here at sk:n we can provide laser treatment to reduce the effects and help improve the skin’s appearance.

Laser treatment works using beams of light on the affected areas. These beams cause damage to the offending blood vessels and cause them to shrink. They also help to reduce the amount of skin tissue.

You may feel some discomfort with the laser treatment however it is not likely that you will experience pain as such. Depending on the level of redness on the nose it is likely that you will need between one and three treatments.

Before you commence any laser treatment it is recommended that you visit a dermatologist who can accurately diagnose your condition and advise if laser treatment is the correct course of action for you.
