Hi, my name’s Harpreet and I’m 28. I suffer with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and first visited sk:n three years ago looking for an effective solution for my severe excess body and facial hair, which I’ve been battling with for 16 years. I wanted to share my experience to help people in the same position as me, and explain how sk:n’s team of experts has helped me through this difficult journey.

March 2014

I was bullied for most of my adolescent childhood because of the excessive amount of hair all over my face and body. From the age of 12, I was severely picked on by the kids at my school and even from other schools in the area for being different.

I am of Indian descent and my early teenage development of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has not only caused excessive, embarrassing hair growth on unwanted areas, but also resulted in heavy weight gain, which only exacerbated the taunts.

After Laser Hair Removal treatment

My Laser Hair Removal treatments at sk:n have been amazing – I have had seven sessions so far and still have one more to go.

I started seeing results after the second and third sessions, which I think was really fast. I had quite a lot of hair on my stomach, chest and lower back, so to see results so soon was really pleasing.

The clinic staff have been amazing and explained everything thoroughly before, during and after each session. Every time I went in for another treatment, I would be asked if I was on any new medication, had experienced any change in health, and when I had last been exposed to the sun. The laser intensity levels were also explained in advance so I could be prepared. It was a great experience.

The results have been so good that I have booked in for more Laser Hair Removal on other parts of my body, as well as my face. My skin looks and feels amazing and I feel a lot more confident to wear whatever I want – I’m even wearing bikinis on holiday! The hair is a lot easier to manage, and I hardly have to think about hair removal. It’s made my life so much more convenient.

Maintenance

Since having Laser Hair Removal treatments at sk:n, the areas I had treated have not required any waxing or shaving. There is noticeably less hair than before – although there has been regrowth, it is much finer and more manageable now. I am about to have some follow-up treatments on my face, two years after my initial course of treatments.

As a PCOS sufferer, I will require ongoing maintenance treatments, and unfortunately this is just something I have to live with. However, I am thankful to have found an effective solution at sk:n.

It is very important for me to maintain the results I’ve achieved so far, which is why I will only go to sk:n for my follow-up treatments. I have had Laser Hair Removal treatment at different places before, and it didn’t work as well for me.
