Is your face revealing the inner you?
Want your skin to look smooth and soft? Or perhaps you’re looking for improved skin tone or to hide your enlarged pores? There are many reasons for enlarged pores and these include ageing, sunlight exposure, or seborrhea. While they may seem unsightly, pores actually serve a vital function, allowing hair to grow and producing protective oils which rise to the skin’s surface.
Skin peels work at removing these dead skin cells laying on the surface, allowing the new skin cells beneath to grow, giving you a clear and fresh complexion.
If you have enlarged pores, a chemical peel improves your skin tone by removing the outer layer of the skin called the epidermis, by using a chemical known as trichloracetic acid. By exposing the dermis after a chemical peel, the skin can be left looking a little raw. While this may look a bit scary, the peel actually stimulates collagen production and cell renewal, leaving skin looking healthier and younger.
Glycolic Peel
A glycolic peel is ideal for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even skin discoloration. This is similar to a chemical peel, but works by loosening and exfoliating the surface layer of the skin. However, glycolic peels aren’t recommended if you have skin health problems or open sores.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a technique which can provide an instant facelift for your skin. It works by exfoliating the outer layer of skin known as the epidermis using inert crystals. It’s a non-invasive procedure which is beneficial for minimizing pores and can reduce skin imperfections such as acne, age spots, wrinkles and scars.
For professional advice, always seek the opinion of a qualified dermatologist who will be able to determine the best peels for your skin.
