Laser Hair Removal on the NHS
We know that suffering from unwanted hair, especially in very visible areas like the face can be extremely traumatic and have a large effect on your self-esteem and confidence. However, in the majority of cases, unwanted hair removal is considered ‘cosmetic’ by the NHS and therefore treatment such as laser hair removal is not provided.
Many skin conditions are treatable with medications available over-the-counter or on prescription, but often the cause for unwanted hair is not always easily determined.
If you are troubled by unwanted hair as many women are and are considering a permanent solution such as laser hair removal, then our experts at sk:n can help.
What if I have been diagnosed with PCOS?
If your unwanted hair is caused by PCOS then a trip to your GP could help. PCOS can be helped by lifestyle changes such as losing weight and medications that may help with certain symptoms caused by PCOS, including unwanted hair.
In some cases, your GP may refer you to a specialist, but it’s still unlikely that laser hair removal would be provided by the NHS, so you would need to visit a specialist clinic.
Why visit a sk:n clinic?
Sk:n is accredited by the Care Quality Commission and the British Skin Foundation and we often receive referrals from the NHS when they have a patient that requires laser hair removal treatment.
Prior to treatment, one of our specialists will walk you through the procedure with a thorough consultation. We’ll answer any questions such as any side effects or how many treatments you will need, to ensure it’s the right treatment for you.
We also often feature offers on three to eight sessions of laser hair removal, from eyebrows to the bikini line, so it might be more affordable than you think.
