Dealing with dark circles

By Raj Phull 20th September 2012 Category: Advice

There’s no doubt that dark circles around your eyes can make you look tired and run-down, as well as adding years to your appearance. Many people understandably feel self-conscious about their dark circles but might not know the best way to try and conceal or get rid of them. Luckily there are a number of things you can do to return your eyes to their natural, healthy sparkle.

Firstly, making sure you’re getting enough sleep may reduce the appearance of the dark circles. However, while too much or too little sleep can lead to darker circles around the eyes, simply making sure you get your full 40 winks won’t magically make dark circles disappear altogether.

Another option is using concealers and other make-ups that can cover the circles or brighten the skin around the eyes. Such products may be good for a quick fix, but they don’t address the cause of dark circles around the eyes. Furthermore, products that clog your pores certainly won’t make your skin any healthier and in the long term could leave your eyes looking even worse.

A better long-term solution is to use skin care products such as those in the anti-ageing range in our online shop. As well as targeting the dark circles around your eyes it can also work to gradually reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

If you want a dramatic effect without the wait then there are several skin treatments you might want to consider. For example, Botox® and anti-wrinkle injections can quickly reduce the appearance of ageing lines. Meanwhile a chemical peel could be just what you need to rejuvenate your skin, promoting the growth of healthy new skin cells around your eyes.

Of course, the skin around your eyes is very sensitive. This is why it’s essential that for a safe and successful procedure you get advice from a dermatology expert, which will ensure your eyes shine as brightly as possible.
