I’d had a TCA peel before, about two years ago – and loved the results, so I was keen to try it again. I really wanted to address hyperpigmentation caused by years of sun damage. All of those sunbed sessions when I was younger had finally come back to bite me and it was making me feel insecure about the way I looked.

I’d had a few laser treatments for hyperpigmentation before, but laser is a longer process and a bigger investment than a TCA peel. So, I did some research on the best place to get a chemical skin peel done and sk:n came up on the top of the search results.

Do skin peels hurt?

One thing many people are worried about when having a skin peel is the pain. I found it was only uncomfortable for a few minutes when the salicylic acid was being applied to the skin. If you’ve not experienced it before, it can feel quite intense to begin with. Afterward, your face looks quite red and feels very tight. It will then peel for about 7-10 days, shedding all of those layers of dull, dead, dry skin. This process helps reduce the appearance of pigmentation caused by sun damage (dark spots and age spots) and also helps soften fine lines and wrinkles and brighten your overall complexion.

What are the results like?

I’m more than delighted with my results. I’ve had the confidence this time to blog about my journey each day on Instagram and the amount of feedback I’ve had is unreal. People have been reaching out to me for advice and wanting to try the same chemical peel as me.

Finding skin confidence

Having this treatment has played a massive part in my confidence. I used to wear concealer and bronzer every day to hide the pigmentation on my face, but now I feel I don’t even need it anymore – and that’s exactly where I wanted to be.
