Is treatment safe?

Absolutely. Lasers have been used to remove birthmarks for years. We will ensure that the laser settings are safe against your skin and that we have the most effective settings for your treatment.

Does it hurt?

In more sensitive areas, Birthmark Removal is described can be uncomfortable, but not unbearably so. There may be a slight stinging sensation which can be eased by applying a local anaesthetic cream. Post treatment you may have some redness and bruising, however this will pass and you will see a permanent fading of your birthmark.

Are there any side effects?

During your consultation you will be advised of all potential side effects. After the treatment you may find the area is sensitive to touch and there may be some slight bruising. This will go down during in the days following your treatment. The use of aloe vera gel will help to keep the area soothed and you should also wear a high factor sun protector 1 – 2 months post treatment.

How many treatments will I need and how often? 

Dependent on where your birthmark is and its size, you will need four to six treatments. Treatments should be carried out six to eight weeks apart, to allow ample time for your skin to heal. Your treatment plan will be personal to you and explained fully by your practitioner.
