Meet the team: Clare McKenna, sk:n Regional Advanced Nurse Prescriber for non-Surgical Treatments.

‘Cowboy cosmetics’, ‘trout pouts’, ‘Botox parties’...we’ve been shocked by the stories and are fully aware of the suffering they’ve caused to countless patients. Unfortunately what many people aren’t so familiar with are the millions of men and women who have undergone a cosmetic treatment and are extremely satisfied with the results. There is absolutely no question that irresponsible, (and often illegal) practice leads to dangerous results, but it is important for consumers to understand that when administered by a qualified medical professional in a safe environment, treatments such as facial injectables, chemical peels or lasers are highly likely to have the desired outcome.
At sk:n we are proud to work with some of the UK’s most experience medical aesthetics practitioners. When our Chester clinic opened early this year, we were thrilled to welcome Clare McKenna to sk:n, as a Regional Advanced Nurse Prescriber for non-surgical treatments. Clare’s experience is massively in demand, with clients from across the North West travelling to receive treatments from her at the Chester clinic.
Clare is a qualified nurse, starting out in Accident and Emergency Cardiology Resuscitation moving into cosmetic surgery and aesthetics 17 years ago for the Harley Medical Group, teaching and assessing non-surgical treatments, before moving onto sk:n in January this year. Clare comments: “I am extremely proud to be a part of The sk:n Group which guarantees a strict regulatory compliance and is home to more leading consultants, dermatologists, doctors, plastic surgeons, nurses and therapists than any other dermatology service provider.
Clare has an extensive knowledge base in the field of Aesthetics. She is passionate about her work and has consulted and advised thousands of patients as to the most appropriate treatment for them. Her long-standing experience means that Clare works with each individual patient to create a pathway of care designed exclusively for them. Whether it’s one treatment every 6 months, a course or lifelong care, Clare determines the right course of action for each of her clients so that they can achieve the best possible results.
Clare is trained in the administration of anti-wrinkle injections (basic and advanced), dermal fillers (basic and advanced), Dermapen and Dermaroller, Obagi Solutions, thread vein removal, HydraFacial and medical microdermabrasion. Clare builds great relationships in her line of work and says, “It’s a big commitment to effectively change your appearance. Patients put themselves in your hands and we pride ourselves on offering the most regulated treatment approach in a meticulously clinical environment.”
Anti-age injectables and dermal fillers have been amongst the most popular treatments in Chester to date. Clare continues “the aim of treatments like these is to make you look younger and feel fresher, making people look as natural as possible. We set out to offer our clients a non-surgical pathway that can be followed over years to come. The psychological effect of these treatments is exceptional, making people feel more confident about themselves and the ageing process in general.”
sk:n is situated in the heart of chester city centre on Vicars Lane and has opening hours as late as 8pm on weeknights. Consultations and appointments can be made by calling 0121 641 6000.
