Korean Skincare: What you need to know
27th February 2015
Different cultures and regions are known for different things; their fashion trends, their recipes, and even their skincare regimes. South Korea seems to be where all the latest skincare breakthroughs and revelations occur; and its residents invest in their skin.
Korean women seem to be less concerned with finding an overnight quick-fix but are committed to giving their skin the luxury treatment it deserves every day. It's been suggested that they spend around seven times as much money on their beauty products compared to the average American woman.
This increase in spend is probably because Korean women have well over a dozen products to choose from depending on the daily needs of their skin.
Korea seems to be the home of cutting-edge beauty treatments, where trends start and spread across the globe. Most women (and men in fact) will have come across the term ‘BB cream’, the all-in-one cream that made an estimated £23.7 million in 2012 alone. BB cream was originally made popular in South Korea; where celebrities and actresses praised the new product.
It seems that if you want to keep ahead of the latest beauty trends, you should keep a close eye on what's going on in the Asian Peninsula. Having healthy, clear skin is highly admired in the country so it makes sense to take note as to what secrets emerge.
