Is nutmeg the next big thing for your skin?

Besides walking around with the slightest scent of nutmeg, this DIY exfoliator has numerous benefits for all skin types:
Oily/ acne prone skin
Nutmeg contains astringent, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a soothing and sensible choice for those with acne-prone skin. The lactic acid in milk also helps to peel dead skin cells that remain around spots for days.
Nutmeg is commonly used in treatments for eczema and so it leaves your skin feeling nourished while working as an anti-bacterial agent. The milk will also help with the exfoliation while offering fantastic moisturizing properties. Those with extremely dry skin should try mixing heavy cream instead of milk for the best results.
As mentioned previously, the treatment works well on all skin types. However, it should not be done more than once a week as it could damage and dry out skin, as with most exfoliating treatments.
What you will need:
- ½ a tablespoon of ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon of whole milk or cream
Mix the two ingredients, stirring well. The mixture should be applied onto a clean face in small, upwards circular motions. This should be done for five to ten minutes before rinsing it with warm water then patting it dry with a clean towel.
Alternatively, you could try our Microdermabrasion facial; prices start from just £50. This is a painless procedure that uses smooth microcrystals and is guaranteed to leave your skin feeling refreshed and nourished.
