Bangladeshi transgender model determined to become Miss World
27th June 2014
A 23 year old Bangladeshi Glamour Model, Amelia Maltepe, has publicly opened up about the difficulties she faced in life, because of her desire to transform from a man to a woman.
Having come from a strict Bangladeshi family, she knew it would be impossible for her family to approve of the idea of her undergoing a sex change. But as the model explains, it was just a life choice she had to make for her own peace of mind and happiness.
After taking a lot of heat from her family Maltepe is now living a happy life with Personal Trainer boyfriend, Charles Dubuc, 27, and it seems her family have finally come to terms with her gender change. Maltepe's next new mission is to become Miss World. She recently revealed in an interview "to become Miss World is one of my biggest dreams. Growing up I always felt that I was trapped in the wrong body".
About Amelia's transformation journey
Her transformation journey began when she moved to Toronto, Canada, for her studies in 2009. She said "It was the first time I realized you could use surgery and medicine to change your birth gender. It was an amazing moment, and I felt like I could finally be the person I always was".
To become the woman she is today, Maltepe had to begin a course of hormones to alter her body. She also spent a large sum of money on getting breast implants and on laser hair removal, which was executed by an expert dermatologist in Toronto.
Nothing is more important than feeling like yourself and being the person you want to be. We can see from Amelia Meltepe's story that anything in life is possible as long as you have the drive and determination to achieve what you want in life.
