Surprising kitchen cures for acne, love handles & more
7th January 2014
People spend hours trawling the internet to look for quick fixes for their body hang-ups, often looking for natural, everyday items in their kitchen. Below is an interview with Peggy Kotsopoulos, a nutritionist where she is asked what cures there are for a range of ailments, from acne to hangovers.
Here are some of top tips from the interview:
Acne & Breakouts
Foods that are high in vitamin A are good at battling the break-out. Peggy talks about sweet potato in particular, due to the dark orange flesh having high levels of beta carotene which the human body converts into vitamin A. She also mentions a quick fix to get rid of a blemish; putting fresh honey over it. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to permanently get rid of acne by changing their diet, in which case it is important to look into other acne treatment methods, like acne laser treatment.
It's as simple as eating oily fish due to their high fat and protein content. If you're suffering from a build-up of dirt and dullness in your hair, then her tip is to wash your hair with some vinegar to cut through it all and restore the sparkle.
No one likes having a muffin top but apparently reducing the stress levels and amount of sugar you eat can help. Replace sugar with natural sweeteners, like yacon syrup, and make sure to eat foods that are high in fibre and omega 3.
