Avoid Dairy, Avoid Acne
20 Jun 2013
Evidence shows that there could be a direct connection between over consumption of diary and acne. As our sugar and dairy consumption has upped over the past 100 years, so has the amount of people who suffer from acne.
In an article published by The Huffington Post, two controlled diets found that diets rich in cow's milk managed to increase the number of people who got acne. The intake of dairy saw a huge spike in the production of hormones, such as testosterone and androgens. It is these nasty androgens that both stimulate the skin to produce acne. Mark Hyman who carried out the studied reported on his findings simply saying, “It seems that for many the cure to acne is at the end of their fork, not in a prescription pad.” Of course the cure for acne isn't as simple as cutting back with the milk on your cereal, but, it is worth considered monitoring your consumption if you suffer from breakouts.
Milk is designed for growth as it's a staple diet in the early development of most newborns. This means it’s full of what's known as anabolic hormones, which is commonly used by body builders to help grow muscles and consequently cause bad acne.
What's In That Glass of Milk
In your average glass of milk there as many as 60 hormones, even in organic milk. Drinking just one glass of milk a day can spike insulin levels by as much as 300% resulting in the development of acne.
