Cosmetic Crisis of Cowboy Clinics
30th April 2013
If you've seen today's news then it comes as no surprise that dermal fillers and other non-surgical procedures, carried out by untrained and unregulated clinics are putting you at serious risk.
We know how tempting it can be to try and cut corners on costs, but when looking for laser hair removal, tattoo removal or fillers do you really want to sacrifice safety in the sake of saving money? Sir Bruce Keogh, medical director for England criticised the websites out there trying to entice people by offering unrealistic and buy-one-get-one-free offers as “'particularly distasteful' way of incentivising people to go under the knife.”
Here at sk:n we've always been proud of our professional treatments carried out by expert dermatologists and doctors. Only recently we were looking at stricter regulations for laser hair removal after an episode of Embarrassing Bodies. We want you to know that you can trust you're in safe hands, as sk:n is on the Independent Health Advisory Service's ‘Treatment You Can Trust’. Same Story Different Year
Of course this isn't the first time unregulated laser hair removal has come to the attention of the media, last year we saw the same cowboy clinics offering unregulated treatments and causing danger. This time we feel more confident that parliamentary approval could support the proposal for stricter regulations. Until then we have to sit tight and wait for a full response in the summer.
