Taking care of your skin after Halloween make-up
27 Oct 2012
It's that time of year again, when the spooky fun begins and we start to think about what we're going to dress up as for the creepiest time of year, that is of course Halloween. However, without taking the fun out of it, it's important to remember that a lot of specialist Halloween make up are not designed with your skin in mind, but more for effect. Whilst, your normal foundations etc might be suitable for your skin type, the vast majority of Halloween ones probably aren't.
So, how do you ensure that you don't ruin your skin? Well, it can be done in three fairly easy steps:
First of all, make sure that you prep your skin properly before applying anything. This will probably be part of your normal routine, but make sure that you use the right skin care products to cleanse, tone, moisturise and don't forget that you'll need to prime your skin too.
The Fun Bit:
It's vital that you tread carefully when choosing products to apply. If you can, try playing around with the makeup that you already own because you'll already be comfortable that it is fine on your skin.
That's not to say that you can't use specialist special effects make up of course, but you should always remember to only apply products to your face that are designed to be put there. Anything else, such as food or whatever your imagination draws you to may be harmful and/or irritating.
The After Party:
If your skin feels a bit dehydrated or generally yucky, it's important that you give your face a treat with a in order to return it to its former glory. Chances are that it will need extra nourishment, especially if you applied heavy make up.
