What are dermal fillers?

10th August 2012  :

Wrinkles come naturally to us all as we age, but most of us are less than pleased about their appearance. The lining of our skin is one of the key markers of the passing years and occurs when skin loses its natural, youthful elasticity.

However, modern anti-wrinkle treatments can be excellent, particularly the state-of-the-art skin treatments offered by sk:n clinics. The dermal fillers available provide a truly outstanding wrinkle treatment. So, what are they?

Essentially, dermal fillers use injections to plump the skin and fill out lines and grooves so that the skin appears smooth. sk:n clinics use two of the best dermal filler treatments available, Juvéderm® and Sculptra™ alongside other favoured injectables such as Botox.

Juvéderm® is a gel made with Hyaluronic Acid, a natural substance in skin that repairs damaged tissue. It plumps out lines and also works with collagen to nourish the skin. Juvéderm®is suitable for the majority of people, especially those who wish to combat the signs of ageing or sun exposure.

Sculptra™ is another innovative treatment for banishing deep lines and wrinkles. It composed of Poly-L-lactic acid, which naturally occurs in the body during exercise and the material found in Sculptra™ has been used for over 25 years.

Injections fill the depressed areas of the face caused by aging, with immediate results. The client looks more youthful and fresh-faced as a result. Treatments usually involve between three and six sessions, with 80% of the treated area showing a remarkable improvement and effects lasting up to two years.

Although both treatments may involve some light pain or discomfort, this can be managed by use of a local anaesthetic. Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising but this tends to fade in a few days. In both cases is vital that treatment is only administered by a professional, such as the experts at sk:n clinics. Please book a free consultation to discuss any aspect for dermal filler treatment.
