Frequently asked questions
Can I remove any hair with laser hair removal?
Yes – as long as the hair is dark enough and therefore has enough pigment to attract the laser. Laser hair removal can remove hair on the face, under arms, bikini line, back, chest, neck, hands, legs and feet.
Can men have laser hair removal?
Yes, of course. One of the reasons laser hair removal is ideal for men is that it works equally well across the entire body and has long-lasting results. From a few unwanted tufts, to an entire back, chest or stomach, laser hair removal is efficient and effective.
Does it matter where I go for laser hair removal treatment?
Yes. You should always choose a trusted, appropriately regulated provider where the practitioners have the right level of training. Lasers are extremely powerful and should only be used by highly qualified practitioners.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal is most commonly described as feeling like the flick of an elastic band, with an additional feeling of warmth. This is why our lasers are fitted with a cooling device to reduce any discomfort during treatment.
How does laser hair removal work?
The laser works by permanently damaging and destroying targeted hair follicles, preventing regrowth. The laser emits light energy which is absorbed by the melanin in the hair, which targets the hair roots beneath the skin at specific stages of their growth cycles, damaging the bulb and preventing regrowth (this is known as photothermolysis). Because only 10-20% of hair is at the correct stage during its lifecycle, this is why we recommend at least 8 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to ensure all follicles can be targeted.
How long does laser hair removal last?
Our clients can see up to 90% permanent hair reduction after a course of treatments. Results are dependent on hair type and colour, and due to the hair growth cycle or hormonal changes you may need a top up of 3 sessions within a few years. However, many patients never need treatment again.
Is laser hair removal right for me?
Treatment is safe on all skin types and colours, so it’s suitable for anyone looking for permanent, silky-smooth results. As the laser is attracted to the pigment of the hair follicle, the only consideration is whether the unwanted hair has enough pigment to be treated.
Is laser hair removal safe?
Absolutely, laser hair removal is safe. The laser targets only the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. You may experience some redness, but this should subside within 24 hours.
